Thomas NewsonExclusive Worldwide
Despite his young age, Thomas Newson has, over the last few years, made sizeable waves throughout the dance music community. With a seemingly unstoppable run of strong releases, spectacular live shows and major label ventures under his belt, Thomas Newson remains the unprecedented success story of recent memory, having experienced a massive spike of interest in 2014 and built momentum ever since. With the support of artists such as Hardwell, Avicii, Tiësto, W&W and Afrojack amongst others, Newson undoubtedly has the potential to be the heir to Holland’s big room throne.
Newson’s ascent can be attributed to both his genuine focus on producing quality music, and his natural compositional talent. With an ever-growing list of big name fans and industry admirers, Newson has developed a reputation as one of the most promising names in the genre. In his own words, it’s the combination of great ideas alongside talented people that make the kind of unforgettable musical moments that Thomas Newson wants to be a part of.
It took just two years for Newson to establish himself as a prime candidate for success on the European circuit, with Hardwell recognising the potential of early track ‘Pallaroid’ and subsequently signing it to Revealed Recordings. The track shot to #1 on Beatport’s progressive house chart and #3 on the main chart, signalling the emergence of a truly promising musical force. Following this came ‘Flute’, a collaboration with New World Sound, released through DOORN, which again shot into the main site top 10, justifying the immense hype and proving the young artist was much more than a one hit wonder. Since then, releases on labels such as Spinnin’, Musical Freedom and Armada Music have cemented Newson as a stellar talent that has long since graduated from being simply a name to watch.
2014 saw further singles for Protocol Recordings and Revealed Recordings, as well as a remix for Hardwell himself, but also a significant run of huge live shows including two spots at TomorrowWorld, and a high profile spot at Amsterdam Dance Event. However, it was his appearance on the Full On stage at TomorrowLand’s 10th anniversary which proved to be the cherry on the year’s cake, introducing Newson to a realm of new fans and propelling him into the dance music stratosphere, something Thomas Newson followed up on this year with another performance at Tomorrowland. Subsequent appearances at New Orleans’ Voodoo Music Festival playing alongside Zedd, Skrillex and hip-hop royalty Outkast, and Creamfields UK on the Revealed stage further reinforced his growing profile, and took his sound to the global stage.
With a global tour profile consistently generating heat, 2015 saw Newson on ventures into Asia as part of Revealed’s ‘Revealed Recordings Presents…’ tour. Hitting up some of the hottest clubs on the continent, including Zouk Singapore and Octagon Seoul, Newson brought his sound to the east and gained a whole new audience as he slayed dancefloors in India, China, Hong Kong and Indonesia. On top of this, tracks such as ‘Summer Vibes’ on Armada (#5 on the progressive house chart) saw Newson branch out into different genres and styles, demonstrating a desire to evolve and mature as an artist in his own right.
Though his touring schedule remains constantly busy, he has still found the time to keep up a steady pace of solid releases. From acclaimed original mixes such as 2015’s ‘Timecode’ and ‘Wave Your Hands’ with Bassjackers, and stellar official remixes for the likes of Armin van Buuren. Thomas Newson continued in the same manner in 2016, with arguably his biggest track yet, a collaboration with Revealed Recordings head honcho Hardwell ‘8Fifty’, achieving over 1.8 million Spotify streams and marking Revealed’s 250th release, followed up with collaborations with fellow Revealed artist Manse on ‘Back Again’ and with Magnificence on ‘Tonight’, which both also came on the label.
Throughout 2016, Thomas continued to drive towards domination behind the one’s and two’s with shows at Revealed Recordings North American bus tour, joining Hardwell and Kill the Buzz on 11 dates across America and Canada. Complementing the year’s impressive tour pedigree was his first performance at Ultra Miami as well as Tomorrowland for the third year in a row.
Following him on his ever evolving journey across some of the world’s most desirable locations, 2016 also saw him launch his new and exciting video series titled ‘Journals’. Providing fans with a unique opportunity to get a never before seen insight into his life as an artist, and his experiences as a touring DJ. Thomas also has his ‘Federation Radio’ show, ticking yet another accomplishment off his list, and confirming his status as one of the industry’s brightest stars.
With these numerous prestigious achievements under his belt at such a young age, it will be no surprise when Thomas Newson inevitably rises to the top of Dance music, and with remarkable progress in such a short space of time, this feat seems to be edging ever closer for 2017 with a wealth of exiting new music in the pipeline.
